Reading Wrap Up | January 2016

I have decided that this year I am going to try to talk more about the things that I've read this year. Since I don't think I'm going to do reviews for every book. And even if I do, these wrap ups will give you the blurb of the book and my rating for that particular books. No spoilers and no real opinions, other than my rating.

So here is my Reading Wrap Up for January 2016.

Desires of the Dead, by Kimberly Derting
The missing dead call to Violet. They want to be found. Violet can sense the echoes of those who've been murdered and the matching imprint that clings to their killers. Only those closest to her know what she is capable of, but when she discovers the body of a young boy she also draws the attention of the FBI, threatening her entire way of life.As Violet works to keep her morbid ability a secret, she unwittingly becomes the object of a dangerous obsession. Normally, she'd turn to her best friend, Jay, except now that they are officially a couple, the rules of their relationship seem to have changed. And with Jay spending more and more time with his new friend Mike, Violet is left with too much time on her hands as she wonders where things went wrong. But when she fills the void by digging into Mike's tragic family history, she stumbles upon a dark truth that could put everyone in danger.

Crown of Midnight, by Sarah J. Maas
From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.

Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.
Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena's world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie... and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.

But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Yes, I know that all of these books were given five stars but they truly deserve it. I did try to start another book but I just couldn't get into it. So that would have likely been rated a lot lower than the others. But it was a good reading month overall. Good to start me into a year of reading.
And I've already completed ten percent of my reading challenge for the year so yay!
